Tiny Dancer

I am often asked how did I become such a confident person.  I guess I can answer that in many ways.  For one I am indeed my father’s daughter when it comes to being naturally extroverted.  I’ve always felt comfortable around other people and excelled in social settings as a child.  My mother who has always been a constant presence of female beauty and strength undoubtedly shaped my views of self worth and fostered self confidence.   I’ve always remembered feeling comfortable in my own skin …  until the day that I was harshly reminded that my body was differently shaped than most.

Work of Art

Monet.  Degas. Greco. Rembrandt.  World renown individuals that have left their mark with a stroke of a paint brush.  If you ever have the opportunity to see one of their works in person it truly is an amazing feeling.  I wonder if those artists had known at the time that their talent and creative works would be so impressionable to the world. Weekend Apparel

As I listen to my pandora station heading home from work the other day the wise words of Blink 182’s All The Small Things resonates in my mind.  “Work sucks.  I know.”  This might ring true to many of you out there but don’t get me wrong I am very fortunate and grateful to have a stable job that allows me to support myself  and my shoe habit but just bear with me as I digress.

New York Minute

The hustle and bustle of the city that is New York is unlike any other.  Growing up in the greater Boston area I consider myself a city girl with a generous amount of street savoir faire but the rules change when you enter Manhattan —  as if you are traveling not within the USA but to   another country with it’s own set of rules and etiquette.  Every time I come here I am more determined to master the beast that is NYC but always have fun in the process of learning the city’s language.  It always amazes me how you can have new and very different experiences coming to the same place.

Everyday Sparkle

Every Monday morning is in need of a pick me up so put on a bright lip or a fun nail color to liven up your work week. These little things can make your Monday a little more cheerier.  Don’t believe me?  Just try it!  I know when I’m feeling down and I get the itch to do some major retail therapy for a cure I head to the makeup counter and pick up a new lipstick.  It’s a quick pick me up that is easy on your wallet and pretty on your lips.  So sparkle on…

The Lady Goes to L.A.

Hey everyone!

I’m just coming back from my latest trip from L.A.  Jet lagged and still very much living out of my unpacked suitcase my heart is still on the west coast — and believe the rumors there’s a little more bounce in California!  I had a great time and hopefully will be back soon to see more of the city.  I loved how eclectic and culturally diverse L.A. is — there is literally almost every major ethnicity represented there either through food, art, architecture and of course style.  Here are a few pics of my escapades in the City of Angeles with my friend, travel buddy and my photographer  Jaclyn. Crazy in Love

A few nights ago I felt like rummaging through my closet to do some major work, making piles for the yay, the nay and the donate.  I usually end up trying on practically everything in my closet which inspires possible outfits.  The Beyonce radio station on my Pandora was blaring in the background and I was jamming like nobody’s business. Suited Up

The power suit — functional for the 21st century woman on the go.  I wish I had this suit about 5 years ago.  After graduating college I remember struggling to find a nicely cut suit that I could wear to job interviews that didn’t age me 20 years.  Thankfully the plus size fashion world has changed and continues to change,  acknowledging that big women are not all shaped like boxes but we actually have curves and we would like them to shine through. Santorini Send Off

So it goes without saying that I miss being in Santorini — obvy (short for obviously).  I miss being lazy and just worrying about what kind of drink I would try next.  I could have easily stayed on the beach,  all day.  But that’s just it — when you’re on vacation you can easily become so content with just staying mellow that you might miss out on some amazing experiences if you don’t force yourself out of your holiday routine.  So my friends and I dragged ourselves from our lounge chairs and beach umbrellas and headed back to the hotel to get pretty for the night.  I’m so glad we did because 1). it gave me the opportunity to wear and outlandishly Greek getup in public.  When my friend came to my door and saw what I was wearing she said and quote “Yeah, no one is going to be looking at you tonight.” Got to  love her!)  Secondly, I would have missed out on seeing the real Santorini — when the sun goes down.

Santorini Blues

The best part of my time in Greece was when we finally arrived to the beautiful island of Santorini.   First thing first, we headed straight to the bar for some drinks and food and then to the beach — Kamari Beach to be specific.  I couldn’t get over how we would be on the beach surrounded by mountains it was the most beautiful setting for some rest and relaxation. Grecian Holiday

After months of working crazy hours at the hospital and forgoing a social life for what felt like forever I was finally able to take a holiday and spend two weeks in Greece with my friends!  This trip has been years in the making — like seriously since I was a little girl with my weird infatuation with Uncle Jessie and his Greek roots but more specifically ever since I met my best friend who happens to call Athens, Greece her hometown.
