“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful—that will be my life.”
― Elsie De Wolfe
On a scale of one to ten, with one being not important, can live without, not a necessity and ten being a matter of life or death important, my personal style blog comes in at a whopping 1.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy what I do or that I’m not good at it. I’m just comparing it to the major things that are happening in the world; injustice, oppression, people suffering from war, crime, disease and death; sharing my personal fashion sense doesn’t compare.
It’s something I could live without. It’s not a necessity. But like many things that I enjoy, fashion is able to bring me a little bit of joy and happiness in a world that is so determined to be ugly, mean and selfish.
Creating beautiful, lush, romantic feminine looks and having it captured in a lovely way on camera is my esacpism.
It’s not that I’m not in touch with reality or the suffering of others. I understand there are more important things than what we put on our bodies but just like a person may like to read a novel or watch a movie, it provides a fantastical escape.
When the credits roll or when you’ve reached the last page, a small kind of sadness swells up inside of you because you know the escape is over.
Back to reality.
So no, this blog probably won’t save someone’s life and it definitely won’t solve the world’s problems but I do hope it makes you smile, feel inspired and just be happy, even if it’s for a little while. I know it does for me.
It’s not much but it’s something I can do to make my world a bit more beautiful.
