(Not) Body Conscious With Hooked Up Shapewear

Okay ladies, let’s talk shapewear.  I have the typical love / hate relationship with the darn things but I think I’ve found the one that does everything I need it to do: smooth, control and limit my rump shaker from causing an earthquake.

Shapewear is intended to make you look better in your clothes.  Shapewear doesn’t magically give you an hourglass plus model size figure but it smooths the rolls, bumps and dimples that all real women have.  So don’t expect a miracle or to look like Beyoncé.  No shapewear can do that.

I wear shapewear also to prevent chaffing because I’m Team NO THIGH GAP since I was like 8.

But the one thing that I absolutely hate about wearing shapewear is the rolling down at the top creating that awkward unflattering back fat that’s so not cute especially when you’re wearing a fitted dress.   I’ve learned to manage with  safety pins (ouch) and succumb to doing that awkward shapewear shuffle.

(You know, it’s that dance we do as we try to nonchalantly pull up the tips tops of our shapewear.)

Those dancing days are behind me thanks to the innovators of Hooked Up Shapewear.

They are the bright ones that decided to create hooks for shapewear that attach to our bra straps so we don’t have to deal with them rolling down!

Genius, right!?

They sent one over to review and I was eager to test it against the ultimate wardrobe staple — The Body Con.

I have to say that it totally did what I needed it to do.  It kept me smooth and bump free minus the back fat and the shapewear shuffle.  I wore it for about 6 hours and I was completely comfortable plus there was no rolling down or rising up my legs.  There is a crotchless area so you can tinkle because once that sucker is on — its on.  (You might need some assisntace the first time you put it on actually.  I did.)

So back to that crotchless panty area — it did actually work for me.  It was a little awkward at first but thankfully I managed to use the restroom without having a Depends moment.  One thing I would suggest is to size down to get a more tighter fit.  I’m wearing a 2X and I totally could have gotten even more security and smoothness with a size down.

So this dress is kind of perfect for a sexy LBD but the thing is it’s not a dress.  It’s part of a three piece set from Babes & Felines.  They were lovely to send me over a plus version of their best selling body con that can actually be worn as a skirt, tube dress or the turtle neck body con.

Watch the tutorial here:

The pieces are super stretchy and come in a “one size fits all”.  When I first saw the pieces I was like there is no way that this would fit over all of dis (*insert body roll).  But to my surprise it did and comfortably!  No screaming seams about to burst only a smooth clean silhouette.  The pieces themselves act as shapewear which is just amazing.

  1. Great article! I have to say being a size 16 and with a figure hugging strapless wedding dress I found it really difficult to find shape wear that suited! I finally found the perfect one, it was comfortable, breathable, didn’t budge an inch (no rolling) and suited all my needs including most importantly smoothing out the dreaded rolls!! I wear it all the time since even on regular days out. This brand truly is amazing! They have a range of 10 different styles, I found mine here http://bitly.com/1CWfWo7
