Weekend Casual

Hey Curvettes : )

I hope you are enjoying your weekend whether you’re planning on hitting up the town tonight or staying in with a movie.  I had a busy day out in service than running errands around town.  I always want to look put together and comfortable when I’m out and about running errands.  This might pose a challenge since my sweat pants are just so tempting to wear just about anywhere!  But before I leave my home in my college lacrosse sweatsuit I hear the words of my mother in my mind, “Take a moment and give what you’re wearing some thought.  You never know who you’re going to meet.”  So as I frown (because I know she is right) I listen to her wise words and try to manage a look that meets my comfort and style needs.

A great chic look that can be thrown together rather quickly will consist of items that you love to wear and don’t require a lot of prep.  My “go-to” casual looks usually consists of my trusty lightly distressed boyfriend jeans from Forever 21+, a t-shirt, a blazer and some cute flats.  Leggings with a baggy sweater, a patterned scarf and some cute flat boots can also be a great alternate chic/casual look.

Today was a tad bit nippy so I switched out my usual blazer for a heavier winter coat.  I wore a black and white striped henley with my boyfriend jeans and finished the look with bright pink pointy flats.

Coat/Jeans/Flats :: Forever 21
Striped Top :: Lane Bryant
Handbag :: JCP
Hope you enjoyed this quick post but I better get going.  Tonight is Latin Night and my girlfriends and I are going to get our bachata on!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend <3

  1. See… this is why I don’t understand why “they”, as in the collective “they” that usually say stupid stuff, say to stay away from horizontal stripes. You look gorgeous! =) Love this ensemble. =D

    1. I totally agree. I’m a firm believer in wearing what pleases you and forget on what “they” say I should wear. Breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions is one thing I hope to showcase through this blog. : )

    1. I have found them to be very comfortable. I just wished they would come out with more styles besides skinny jeans. I love the good and worn feeling of a boyfriend jean. These are my “go-to” jeans. I love them.

    2. Thanks for responding & the tip..I purchased a pair of colored jeans the fit is nice & I do like the added stretch. I would luv to see a wide leg high waisted jean!!

  2. You’re timing is perfect! I pondered this morning about casualwear and working with what I have in my closet that would allow me to go wash clothes and still be comfy and cute! I love your outfit and the pop of color hits the right note. How do you find you like Forever 21’s shoes?

    1. Thanks theoryandpracticeblog! I have about 3 heels and 2 flats from F21 and I love them. I hate wearing a cheaply made shoe but surprisingly they are of great quality and reasonably priced. I’ve recently purchased a pair of black patent leather platform pumps on sale for $13! Too amazing to pass up and they go great with everything. Thanks for reading!
