Venus Plus

One job of the fashion industry is to attempt to paint the narrative that their experts know what’s fashionable and how one must look to be considered fashionable.According to many fashion houses, I’m not “it” – but that doesn’t stop me from creating the stylish looks you’ve come to see on my blog. But to be big and stylish isn’t easy. Many times you have to create your own options that are so lacking for someone with a curvier body type.

I never understood in a multi-level department store, with floors upon floors and endless rows of fashion – the plus size department is a measley corner, that’s usually in the back (or the dungeon) of the store, hidden away from the rest of the merchandise. Like, could you be any more obvious to let me know that you don’t think plus fashion is worthy to display?

Well, I’m here to bring you news, ladies! More and more companies are becoming hip to the idea that big women want to look great and deserve to have more options!

So even though the fashion industry isn’t perfect, it is progressive. It also doesn’t hurt when brands are willing to open the figurative door for plus fashion and give us what all women really want – a plethora of options and to look and feel beautiful in their clothing.

So, of course, I’m super stoked to be working with Venus. You might know them for their swimwear/fashion catalogs. They have recently launched into plus sizes and asked me to help style some of their newest arrivals.

My very first Venus look is right on time for Spring. Okay, so, you all know how much I love ruffles and florals. So, you totally understand why I immediately gravitated toward this this top! The coloring is perfection. Of course I love its flowy and feminine vibes.

I paired it with slim fitting jeggings that are thick and provide controlled support for your assets. A key to wearing white pants/jeans is to have great undergarments. I opt for a full-coverage black panty that won’t ride up and has built-in support as well.
