As you can guess, city living did not prepare me for Florida country life.
Not that I live in the country country — but it’s pretty country for me. I mean you can regularly see a woman riding her horse on the side of the road like it’s nothing at all. I still do double takes when I see that.
At first I hated anything that was remotely associated with southern country life but over the years I’ve come to actually like living here for now and learn to just take those little rustic eccentricities as quirky tid bits that make living here unique. Think of darling Eliza Doolittle. As much as she wowed us when she became a lady you have to admit her street swag was completely charming.
I’ve just recently had my 6th year anniversary since moving to Jacksonville from Boston. I utterly can’t believe it. I didn’t think I would last a month let alone 6 years!
Experts say that moving as an adult is so much more difficult than moving as a child and that it usually takes 7 years to feel comfortable in your new city. I think they’re right.
I’m just starting to feel settled in Jacksonville and although I miss the city life and my friends back home I don’t miss the snow — or digging my car out of that snow. It’s kind of nice to look at pictures of winter on Instagram when I’m sipping a lemonade in 70° weather.
Occasionally a cold front will sweep through the south and I get to pull out some cooler weather accessories and I love my new ones from Sugar Pair. SP is a new shopping site exclusively for accessories, jewelry and shoes! This infinity scarf and quilted bag are the perfect color pairing and addition to my Floridian Fall casual weekend look.
