Who would have thought that rompers, which were once kindergarten sandbox attire would become a must have piece for adult women (and some bold men) for Spring and Summer everywhere?!
Well they are and even though you have to basically get naked in order to use the bathroom while wearing one I’m digging this one from River Island.
As a curvy lady I tend to stay clear of shorts because no matter how hard I try they tend to ride up in the front and give you that weird frontal wedgie (never a good look).
When walking, I’d pretend to stop and look back as if I forgot something behind me in order to allow my shorts to readjust without having to do the even more awkward wedgie dance in public.
So how am I wearing this romper confidently while walking and with a smile on my face?
The answer is GO BIG. I like to go up one size when wearing a romper that is made of flowy fabric. It’s easier to move around in and you avoid all the riding up action. This one is great because it comes with a sweet little waist tie that can easily wrap around your waist twice. This will bring some form to the look but if oversized is the what you’re going for than you can definitely just tie it in a bow in the back.
Not all rompers are created equal. You have to consider fabric, cut and detailing. My curves appreciate movement and comfort so I know that I will feel my best in rompers that are more relaxed in fit. A structured cotton romper would be disastrous for me and my curves but it all depends on comfort and personal preference.
I really hope that more women, big or small take a chance on wearing a trend like rompers this season. Make it work for you. Try different fabrics and styles to see which one makes you feel amazing. After all, that should be the main reason you wear what you wear; it makes you feel confident and beautiful!
