Have you ever heard a song that’s lyrics resonated with you so much so it gave you goosies? Like it was literally written about you. Well actually in this case it was written about this outfit. You just have to check it out. Trust.
I usually style looks in my mind days before I actually get to shoot. So when I got this perfectly polka dotted mustered gem from ModCloth I already knew how I would style it.
Retro, vintage inspired and ladylike with ruby red lips, pearls and old school hollywood glamour hair.
What I didn’t know was about this song. It’s called Brown Skin Girl by Leon Bridges.
My friend sent me the link just a few days after I shot the look. He said it would be good for my soul.
It definitely was and I have been playing his music non stop for the last few days. He has this throw back with old school soulful r&b sound like Otis Retting, Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson. Smooth romantic and just plain cool. I love his style too. Such a classy looking guy y’know.
So anywho back to Brown Skin Girl. Just listen to it here and tell me you don’t think it was crazy meant to be. Haha!
My new freshwater pearl necklace is from Pearl Clasp. I’ve always wanted a classic ladylike staple like this to pass on if I ever have a little curvy lady of my own.
There’s just something about a single strand of pearls that is timeless and classic and it will always polish off your look with ladylike panache.

Love it all. Must ask about the earrings, though. Any info on them you can share?
I’m too a big fan of all dots 🙂 Yellow is your colour, you look amazing and glamorous <3
Such a lovely dress! I like how you styled it. It kind of reminds me of “I Love Lucy” (which I loved).
Just GORGEOUS! You are so inspiring.
Beautiful. 🙂
love this look, and the alternative shoe choice is the bomb.com
