“The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.”
Carrie Bradshaw
For me truer words have never been spoken.
Granted they are the words of a fictional character but any SATC fan well knows those Carrie B one liners that were the perfect combination of rom com cliché and epic enlightenment.
Whether you’re single or taken each relationship status comes with it’s woes and wonders.
As much as I love the idea of being boo’d up and having that whole Bonnie & Clyde, Jack & Rose, Mindy and Danny kinda commitment to another human being I’m not putting my life on hold until it happens.
Until then there is always a beautiful pair of shoes that deserves a home in my heart & closet. Case in point the above leather chartreuse cut out sandals that were like love at first sight.
But in all seriousness being perpetually single has allowed me to work on myself and my own insecurities.
I’m hoping that this time with me, myself and I is a refinement period. In reality I’m not really technically single. I’m in a relationship with myself and I’m completely devoted to that relationship at the moment.
When my Danny Castellano does come along hopefully I’m going to be the best woman I can be for him.
I’ve put in the time and work to be an asset in a relationship not a liability. I won’t lose myself or identity when I become a twosome because currently as a party of one the makings of my life are a happy one. And wherever he is, I’m hoping that he’s doing the same for me.
I think it was Jennifer Aniston who said that “A relationship isn’t going to make me survive. It’s the cherry on top.”
I think she is so right.
I mean, how incredibly lame would it be to wait on being happy and living an amazing life till your favorite human being decides to make himself known to you. After all, getting married isn’t the goal in the long run. Staying married is mine.
So till then, there will be many travel adventures, jam sessions to Beyoncé’s Single Ladies, bottles of Moscato D’Asti during movie nights with my girlfriends, loads of laughs, mistakes, refinements and shoes. Lots of beautiful beautiful shoes to make the walk for this single lady stylishly more fun.
