What was cottagecore before cottagecore? I think about this a lot. Not just the term “cottagecore” but of the other words we have now to describe something that has been around forever. The evolution of words and the new names of styles or trends is so interesting to me. E-Girl, Goth, emo, Preppy, Grunge, Feminine, Punk, Polished, Prairie, Urban… the list goes on and on…
Pivoting here but like, did y’all know fannypacks are a like a whole thing right now?! I remember distinctly being teased for wearing them when I was in grade school but c’est la vie. It’s in right now.
Anyway back to cottagecore.
To me I’ve always gravitated towards vintage, timeless and romantic fashions. I mean, if it had ruffles on it, it was on me! But here we are in 2021 with this new term cottagecore that has been amplified thanks to Taylor Swift and TikTok.
Well, whatever this style of inspired dress will be called in 10 years, it’s what I’ll be into. Honestly, it’s what I’ve always been into. Cottagecore or bust…
