Blogging has allowed me to have some pretty amazing experiences and I get to meet all kinds of stylishly creative people. Most of the time I’m experiencing these things outside of Jacksonville which is awesome but at the same time it’s hard to build that same sense of community right here at home. That’s why it’s a real treat to have local blogger Carla Thompson of The Curious Natalia to call a friend.
I first discovered Carla’s blog through ModCloth’s Instragram and I thought she had the cutest look. After doing some research I was surprised to find out she was in Jacksonville too!
So I got really excited as I typically do when I discover another local blogger. I reached out to her and we made plans to meet up but we could never seem to link up.
Till one day Carla was promoting a networking event in town and I decided it would be a great opportunity to meet other designers and photographers and not to mention Carla herself.
We met and it was a done deal. We’ve been friends ever since.
It’s so great to have a friend in the industry because they just get it – no questions asked. It’s also great because we learn from each other. We genuinely want to help each other grow and succeed in a community where women helping other women is not openly talked about or seen.

Carla and I got together over cocktails and interviewed one another.
With blogging it’s can be difficult to really show our personalities without getting too personal. This was a fun and easy way to get to know us a little bit better.

C: What made you start blogging?
T: I started by accident. I was just making collages of my outfits and posting them on my Facebook and Instagram accounts. The response was really positive from friends that I decided to jump into blogging and I haven’t looked back since. It’s great to be able to have a platform to show my personal style as well as help other women dress with confidence.
C: How would you describe your style?
T: It’s ultra femme, classically modern, eclectic, bright and bold.
C: What is the last movie you watched?
T: It was an action movie on Hulu: Jack Ryan something or other. I watched it because Chris Pine is hot.
C: If you could take anyone living or dead to MShack (a burger joint) who would it be and why?
T: I would take Mindy Kaling. Not only because I think we would hit it off and become instant besties but I know she would appreciate a good burger and plus their milkshakes have the option to add alcohol and I know she’d dig that too.
C: Latte or Cappuccino?
T: Latte all day.
C: What’s your favorite songs to sing in the car?
Currently I’m belting out Drake’s HotLine Bling, Lauryn Hill’s (Doo Wop) That Thing and Adele’s Hello.
Besides fashion blogging what are some other hobbies or interests?
I love to sing. I’m not a Jennifer Hundson or Beyonce but I still enjoy singing. My friends and I have been getting together to jam lately and singing 90’s tunes from No Doubt and Radiohead. It’s fun to pretend to be a rock star.
