I first debuted an Ankara print outfit a few weeks ago. It was such a big hit and I loved it so much I decided to wear a lot more of it. So here’s the encore to ankara and the cool thing is that my cute little friend Natallie made this beautiful skirt too!
Before a few weeks ago I didn’t own anything Ankara print.
Gasp! I know.
I don’t know why either, especially since for most of you that know me well I’m like a the Princess of Prints; (Solange is Queen, obvy) but I digress.
I’m super excited to share not one but two new brands to shop that I know you will love.
This skirt is custom made by my friend Natallie. She’s opened up a brand new Etsy Shop called Great Skirts by Nate — simple name and very true.
She hand makes beautiful and modest style skirts with box pleats and pockets! Too cute right! And everything she’s currently selling is all under $50! I mean you can’t beat that for custom made! So definitely check out her shop and tell her Thamarr sent you in the comments section at checkout!

The second company I’m sharing is the one behind this beautiful also custom made suede fuchsia cross body/clutch. It’s from Sseko Designs a fashion brand based in Uganda. It’s a socially responsible company using fashion to create employment and scholarship opportunities to the talented young women from East Africa to help them in pursuing their dreams, attending university and overcoming poverty.
Every woman that graduates from Sseko is currently pursuing her college degree! Click here to read more about Liz Forkin Bohannon (founder of Sseko Designs) and the amazing Sseko Story and meet the women behind the beautiful designs. You can even send the women of Sseko a note of encouragement and appreciation.
Women helping women to succeed is such a beautiful thing and I was in tears when I received my Sseko Designs items accompanied with a picture of the women that helped create my beautiful clutch. Their smiling happy faces is proof that their is so much dignity, strength and value behind someone’s hard work.
A purchase of a clutch or a pair or sandals from Sseko is more than just a cute accessory — it’s just the beginning for these women that are sure to become the future doctors, lawyers and teachers in their communities.

I’m so glad I found your blog! I’m right here in Jacksonville with ya, loving style in a city not known for its style! Love that you feature fair trade and ethical brands too, like your friend on Etsy and the Sessko bag:)
