For the last year and a half I have been making it a goal to be more active but more specifically, not letting a week go by without spending some “me time” at the gym.
Not with the intention of becoming a size zero but to challenge myself and because I love my body and want to take care of it. Not to mention, I feel amazing after crushing my work out.
Around this time of year so many of us are pressured into trying to get back to our pre October 2017 bodies in order to make 2018 the best year yet.
How great our 2018 doesn’t depend on how much weight we lose. Weight does not determine our happiness. However, what we think of ourselves and how we treat ourselves, actually does. Being grateful for the body we have now and everything it can do is such an amazing blessing.
Changing our perspective is also empowering. Stop letting others write your narrative that you’re not good enough till you do this… Or you would be so pretty if you just did …
IT’S BULL!
I choose to do cardio (I’m up to 30 minuted on the StairMaster!) because I love my body, not because I hate it.
But let’s be real — I could not get through cardio with some bomb tunes to help push me through. Here are my current top 5 workout songs:
- This Is Me by Keala Settle from The Greatest Showman
- Finess (Remix) by Bruno Mars & Cardi B
- Lose Yourself by Eminem
- Glorious by Macklemore
- Who Run The World by Queen Beyoncé
Having cute workout gear is also a great motivator for me and I love the latest styles from Old Navy. The cool graphics, detailed piping and mesh cutouts are just the added touch I need for a swaggy workout outfit.

Thank you Old Navy for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
I’ve noticed you looking great and wondered what you were doing! Thanks for this well timed post, just bought a spin bike and decided enough was enough and the grief weight has to go!
