4 Ways to Style Straight Leg Jeans

I’m completely obsessed with my newest straight leg jeans and the fact that they’re from Forever 21 makes what I’m about to tell you absolutely insane; I bought them for only $14!  

These jeans are by far my most favorite buy all year because one, the fit!

I was so pleasantly surprised.  I would definitely say comprabable to Good American’s amazing fit and I love the criss cross details of the closure.  And two, the price.  I still can’t believe it– $14!

I have been sharing them with everyone that I know.  I have been wearing them non stop.

Plus Size Statement Coat + Mom Jeans + White Booties

Nobody: Hey Thamarr!  The 80’s called and they want their outfit back.

Me: No.

I can’t get over the fact that this is probably a look my mom wore when I was kid and here I am rocking it in almost 2020.

We all know the power of a statement coat i.e. the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge.  They have looking fierce in a coat down to an art.

‘Tis the season of plaid and it can be overly done and repetitive but this one has fresh take on the beloved pattern.  It’s clean and sharp and the perfect centerpiece of this look.

I’m not usually a turtleneck kind over girl but this one is perfect  if you’re like me and feel claustrophobic.  It’s not too bulky and is a great knit for layering or wearing alone.

My mom jeans have easily become my most worn item of the season.  I just absolutely love the fit of these.  Make sure to size up because they are true denim with no stretch.

Last but not least my white booties!

Okay, at first I thought these booties only looked good on other people.  I would see them trending everywhere from on the ‘gram to magazines but thought there is no way I could pull it off.

This look proves not to sell yourself short and always give something a try even just to figure out that something doesn’t work.  You just never know what might!

Check me out rocking this trend minus looking like PeeWee Herman.

Love this casual look and don’t be surprised to see these pieces on rotation the rest of the season.  I like to wear my clothes and that’s that.

River Island Casual Cold Weather Look

Okay ladies!  I’ve heard you!  You’ve asked to see more casual looks on the blog so I’m just here to please.  I present to you, le casual glam via River Island Plus!  😂

I will always and forever be a maxamist because more is more.  

However, there is something really quite beautiful for in a look that is minimal or low-key.

This look from River Island features two staples that all of need in our wardrobes in the winter.  Great fitting denim and knit sweater.

Since discovering River Island denim *I honestly was sleeping on them in that department.  I have loved wearing them in my day to day life.

You don’t see many of those looks on the blog because I thought they were too ordinary and not very visually interesting.

Boy, was I wrong.

A lot of you have sent me messages saying that you love my style but would love to see more of me in what I wear out and about everyday.

Shooting this look reminded me of when I first started blogging and captured my looks in real time: that is asking my brother to snap a photo of my outfit on my way out the door.  Nothing planned or prepared.  Not an extravagant look to wear for a few hours.  Just a cute outfit for the curvy girl next door.

In fact this was what I was actually wearing while hanging out at my friends place before dinner.

Old Navy Built-In-Warm Rockstar Jeans

Okay, so true story:  I went to a beach bonfire in the middle of Fall and froze my booty off.  I thought wearing jeans and boots would be a safe bet but I was so wrong.

I didn’t take into consideration that it would be way cooler at night and 10º cooler by the water.

I was a bonfire rookie I guess because all the other girls there wore leggings underneath their jeans for added warmth.

I didn’t get the memo.

The idea was good but practical… meh at best.

If you had to tinkle you would have to pull down 3 bottoms in order to do the deed.  Plus I’m hot natured and hate the feeling of bulky layers but I hate the idea of being cold more.

So of course fashion technology has finally caught up and solved this dilemma creating a new way to add warmth minus the bulkiness.

I’m rocking the newest fall denim from Old Navy with Built-In-Warm technology.

So what is it exactly?

These jeans aren’t lined with anymore fabric  but rather built-in-warm fabric is brushed back on the inside of the jeans for a fleece like feel, max coziness and extra warmth so there is no added bulk and no chill. Get it?  No chill…

Old Navy to me has always been a destination for great plus denim options but I can personally attest that these jeans are the coziest and most comfortable ones I own.  They have plenty of stretch and this particular style, the high-rise, fits just right over my curves. Major Key!  🔑

I’m ready for any outdoor festivities now because these jeans have no chill.

I thought it would be funnier the second time around, no?

Find Your Confidence + The Perfect Fit Jeans

Over the years Musings of a Curvy Lady has become more than just a platform for me to share my outfit posts.  I’ve worked diligently in developing a safe space for women of all shapes and sizes to feel unapologetically confident and inspired to love their bodies now.
