I wanted to get this post up earlier this week but technical difficulties.

I felt like creating a romantic and feminine look for no reason at all.
Some days I feel I have this quarantine thing on lock and others, well, not so much.
I miss the problems and the freedoms we use to have in a pre Covid world, but do not mistake me for thinking we should just be all lax about the seriousness of our situation and get back to life as previously scheduled.
I don’t think life can. So much has changed. But, you know what?
Beauty isn’t canceled. Inspiration isn’t canceled. Love isn’t canceled.
That’s what motivated me one day to get up, get dressed and shoot this look. My intention is to bring a little more loveliness to my corner of the internet in hopes that it can make someone, even if it’s only one person, to smile.

Okay y’all the time is here to flex and get your shop on. It’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Honestly, it’s a pretty smart sale. Customers are given a window of time to shop the best of Fall at amazing low prices from brands that you know and love, across every department. And the reality is that we are very much in a pandemic and I understand that it would be more than insensitive to just bombard you with shopping guides throughout out the length of the sale.
I’m a long time Nordstrom shopper and really do enjoy this sale. So as I shop this sale I’m focusing on making purchases that will have real function and practicality in my life and not just feeling the pressure of needing to buy something.
The deals are good. They’re really good and I’ve done all the work for you.

I will never get use to the the intense heat of summers in Florida.
There’s no way I’m going to be wearing pants in this inferno of a season and since I can’t go pant-less in public I tend to only wear dresses.
When I found this little white number that is not only cute and darling but so light, comfortable and breezy, it seriously was the best of both worlds.
Since getting it, I’ve worn so much and it’s not getting old. I can slip it on and still feel polished and put together to run errands or lounging at home.

Creating a Boho Inspired Patio Space with Bed Bath & Beyond

With most of us spending a lot more time in our homes it’s natural to want to create a space you really love to live in.
Since buying my first home, I’ve spent a lot of time and money trying to create a beautiful indoor living space.
But then quarantine happened …
and all of a sudden I didn’t want to see inside of home anymore. Anyone else?
We all have this intense desire to be outside now that we’ve been social restricted from, well everything.
Over the last 4 months I’ve wanted to refocus my design attention from the interior of my home to creating a beautiful outdoor living space. After all, your backyard is an extension of what’s on the inside.
I’m so incredibly thankful that Bed Bath & Beyond wanted to help me create something special. They have everything I needed to create a boho inspired oasis from furniture, planters, to glassware.
I wanted something chic, warm and cozy but also modern and sophisticated. This space was designed with entertaining in mind so I knew I had to have great seating options.
Bed Bath & Beyond had so many options to choose from but I ended up going with this teakwood three seater sofa. It’s perfect as a gathering spot for friends or to stretch out and relax solo.
The main area is centered with this modern and natural concrete coffee table. It’s large enough to be used for entertaining and eating. The wooden legs also look really great with the natural woven rug.
I wanted to bring more natural elements to this space and knew I needed rattan something so I was so excited to find this rattan chair with matching benches.
Extra touches of coziness were added with a textured throw blanket and pillows break up all the neutrals and add earth tones and colors.
These beautiful stone planters were the perfect way to show off my plant children.
I absolutely loved how this space turned out and seriously can’t believe I got it all in one spot at Bed Bath & Beyond. I will definitely be enjoying some summer nights in my new backyard boho space and looking forward to when I can safely have my friends and family over.

This look is definitely feels like a classic Thamarr statement. It’s super feminine.
I love the structure of the asymmetrical skirt. It’s from the Nordstrom house brand Halogen collaboration with Blair Eadie Bee from Atlantic Pacific.
It sells out immediately so I was stoked to pick up this piece. The Halogen brand is super inclusive and I can always trust and find something darling and cute. It also helps that Nordstrom has super fast shipping an amazing customer service so just in case something doesn’t work out it’s a no hassle return.

Target has been dropping some major style collaborations this summer and I’ve been loving it. Love Shack Fancy, Cushnie and more have made it’s way to Target in an array of size inclusive styles.
So when Lisa Marie Fernandez launched her collection of summertime perfection I knew I had to get one.
Lisa Marie Fernandez is known for her bohemian inspired chic designs and having them available at Target prices is more than amazing.
Now everyone can get their hands on her effortlessly glamorous summertime style.
This white pic ran maxi dress is beyond beautiful and I knew this would be the dress I had to have from the collection.
I love all white dresses for summer but the cut and design of this dress amps up the glamour.
The flared, tiered and billowy sleeves give me all the right kind of drama. The touch of Ric Rac is just the right amount of darling.
A fair warning however, this dress is heavy! It’s a lot of material and if you live anywhere like Florida you might be in trouble. This is definitely an indoor dress.

So I know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me and honestly I didn’t know how to jump right into creating content again.
Current world events on top of what was already happening in my world sent me over the edge.
I have good days and bad days. I’m always thankful for the good days.
I’m sharing in today’s post a caption that I wrote on Instagram. So even though I may be smiling, laughing or have it together, know that I am not.
My name is Thamarr and I feel things intensely. 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦.
So much so that when all these different feelings would flood into me, the only way to sort through and understand them was to write it out in the pages of my journal.
There I was, in my room, with all my intense, mountainous feelings spilling over onto the lined pages of my composition notebook.
Along with my feelings in written form, these pages were often soaked with my tears.
Sometimes I wish I didn’t feel so intensely.
It would save me a lot of energy, if I didn’t love so much. Save me a lot of sleepless nights, if I didn’t care so much. And overall, have a better sense of general well being if I didn’t have to live with the lingering chronic unease I have in my chest when I see racism, injustice, corruption, discrimination, and inequality.
Recent events have sent my intense feelings into overdrive.
I’m flooded with images of lifeless Black bodies and so many layered emotions that trigger more trauma and emotions. It makes sorting through it all so very complicated, to the point I feel as if I’m literally drowning.
𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺?
The feelings becoming visceral, spilling over into my dreams when I sleep and ready to crash and consume me when I wake.
Past traumas, once blurry and unhealed, comes right into focus and made crystal clear. I can’t look away. I can’t feel it away.
The funny thing is, just like that, I will have a moment of peace, of hope and feel really light.
I honestly don’t know why it happens the way it does was but I thanked God for the moment of respite. It happened to me yesterday morning towards the end of my shift at the hospital.
It honestly felt as if God was like, “Girl, just give it all to me. Give me all of your burning hurt, the rage, the doubt and hopelessness you’re feeling so intensely right now. 𝘐 can take it.”
Because yesterday was the first day in a long time where I didn’t have that intense feeling of unease in my chest (and the first time l felt inspired to write.)

How to Maintain My Hairstyles in Between Salon Visits

Hair to me is an accessory and I love to wear my wigs to switch a look or a mood. (I have about 10!)
Wigs are also such an easy and effortless way to always looked pulled together and polished. But they’re investment pieces and dutiful maintenance is required for both my natural hair underneath and on top.
But since I can’t get to my hairdresser as often as I want for my hair and wigs to be conditioned and treated it’s so important to be able to give my styles longevity. I have to use products that are gentle yet effective for my hair and I have absolutely fallen in love with the new Pantene Waterless Collection.
I recently tried them on hair that desperately needed reviving and some support. It was flat lifeless, and I didn’t want to go through washing and styling my hair again. The results were nothing short of amazing.
First off, I was genuinely surprised at how much volume, shine and bounce it added to my hair. I used the Pantene Cheat Day Dry Shampoo Foam on my scalp to get rid of excess oil, but also add volume to my roots. To use, simply dispense a small amount to your fingertips and massage at the scalp. Usually this requires hours styling and lots of heat, but it only took a few spritzes from the Pantene Waterless Collection to give me Olivia Pope worthy movement.
The Pantene Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist is probably my favorite from the collection. I just spray it at the ends of my hair and smooths out my ends and also provides 24-hour frizz protection. I love that it’s also paraben and sulfate free and has the most luxurious exotic scent of peaches and coconuts. You’re going to love it. It immediately helped to detangle my hair and tend to any flyaways, leaving my waves, smooth, fresh and defined.
The final product I tried out was the Pantene Curl Affair Curl Reshaping Cream and this product works great to instantly boost your curls back into shape. It has argan oil, amino acids and omega-9 that work to condition and define your curls. It’s also super easy to use! To reshape curls, twist or scrunch through dry hair and for softly defined curls, apply to damp hair and diffuse or air dry.
I’ve got to be honest; I was a little overwhelmed having to be responsible for the care and upkeep of my hair during these times but I’m actually enjoying using these products as a way for me to practice self careself-care. My hair will be flawless even if it’s to stay safe at home on the couch.
