We recently had one weekend with the temperatures gracing us with a cool dry breeze and gentle light; so I almost yelled at Taylor to get her camera because we are going to shoot all the Fall looks we can!
Case in point, this look in today’s post featuring the unofficial official color of the season, camel.
I love a monochromatic look but I wanted to break it up with a fresh bright white.
I don’t pay attention to silly archaic fashion rules that say not to wear white after Labor Day. I do what I want, okurrrr. 💁🏾♀️

We are going to keep it chic and dare I say, sexy with this scoop neck top that has such a sophisticated and simple fit that was definitely inspired by Marianna Hewitt. She’s Queen of sexy neutrals.
Added this major statement of a coat with its darling puff sleeves that make a regular camel coat a little more interesting, don’t you think?
My newest Kate Spade handbag was a perfect addition to keep the look polished and ladylike but I think these barely there sandals from Steve Madden up the sexiness of the overall look.
To be honest, I think this is as Fall as I am going to get on here for a while. I really just need a trip to somewhere cold to really stunt with these Fall fashions.

What comes to mind when I say cargos?
Like me you’re probably thinking it’s part of the frat boy uniform and has no business on Musings of a Curvy Lady.
But you would be wrong my friend.
Cargo pants or any style or trend really, can be worn to suit you and your likes; it’s all in the styling.
It’s also the woman that wears the clothes not the other way around; so having confidence is essential.
So back to cargo pants…
Reimagine what you think cargo pockets and pants are associated it. Look at it with brand new eyes and how I can adopt it into my personal style.
Living in Florida there is the unwritten law of a yearlong uniform: a tank top and cutoffs.
Although it’s cute, it’s just not me. And what if I don’t want to always look like I’m on a beach vacation?
I love jumpsuits that allow me to be comfortable and look great.
When I first saw this one, I immediately saw it dressed up in heels or down with sandals. It offers practicality and a fashion moment. It’s a good choice to add to my wardrobe this season.
Wearing styles of light, breathable and flowy fabrics helps me stay cool and looking hot minus the sweat.

Living in Florida, I won’t have the chance to enjoy cooler weather for a few more months. So today’s look is a spin on typical autumnal fashion featuring pieces that with a little bit of styling, make the perfect warm weather Fall look.
This shirt dress is made of a thick non stretch woven Oxford that gives this A line dress a bit more structures while remaining easy to wear.
Booties are an all season style of footwear that makes it simple to style a Fall look. These suede booties were a great investment I got last year but here are plenty similar styles currently available.
A hat is essential to give you Fall vibes in steamy weather.
My favorites are from Lack of Color and I recently added a new one to my collection. The Benson Tri in Beige is classically constructed with a tall triangular crown with a beautiful velvet trim at the base.
The neutral color is light enough to not give your winter vibes but the wool material is textured enough where it works for Fall.

I never claim to be a professional makeup artist but I must say that I’m an avid an professional makeup lover.

I was geeked out when I received the official PR package from Rare Beauty and I had to create a full look with all of these beautiful products.
Rare Beauty is more than just a celebrity beauty brand and I truly believe it. I love the mission behind this company welcoming and celebrating individuality, uniqueness and diversity.
Selena is using her platform, power and influence to not only give us an amazing makeup brand but she’s addressing the stigmas of mental health. She’s created the RARE Impact Fund, who’s goal is to raise 100 million over the next ten years to help address the gaps in mental health services for underserved communities.
Not only are the products amazing and work so well together – my favorites are definitely the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation, Brightening Concealer and Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream – but I can totally get behind the work and change they want to bring to the world of beauty.

For the better part of the year I’ve been sharing monthly hauls from Fabletics. It’s no suprise that I am a huge fan.

The BHLDN team was kind enough to let me style a couple gowns and I wanted to take advantage of wearing such beautiful pieces and organized a styled shoot in under a weeks time.
I teamed up with some of the most talented, amazing and inspirational female creatives in Jacksonville to create something I never had growing up; a beautiful, plus sized image of a woman in a wedding dress.
Jenn and Becky are longtime friends and a photography and floral duo that recently created a new business to help create, design and curate elopements and weddings.
In a time were engaged couples are making huge adjustments for their big day, Jenn and Becky offer you a way to maintain the beauty and intimacy of a ceremony but just reimagined.

Sarajane is an national award winning hairstylist and just overall cool girl and fortunate to call her a friend. I love her determination and desire to learn and try anything. She’s definitely a force and talent beyond words.
Sarajane is the Boho Braid Queen and I was so lucky to have her a part of this styled shoot. My wigs never looked better.
My friend Lia is incredibly kind and humble but also an amazing makeup artist. She made last minute changes in her schedule so she could help me out with this styled shoot.
Her kindness and talent also have been recognized in our city as Jacksonville Magazines Best Artist.
As a little girl, remembering that I didn’t see myself or people that looked like me in a positive or beautiful way on TV or in magazines, was burned into my psyche.
Etched into my mind were the white, thin models and actresses on my favorite TV shows that got the guy, landed the job and all the good things in life .
That kind of limited narrative of beauty and success can do some major damage to a fat Black little girl.
You start thinking I must have to change the things about myself that I cannot change to be considered beautiful.
It may very well start a vicious struggle with body and image dysmorphia that can take years to undo the damage.
Visibility and inclusion matters…
That’s why I love using my platforms to create visuals and images of Fat Black Beauty in all it’s glory so that a young Black fat girl that stumbles upon my images cannot only see herself and her beauty but all the potential she has.
This is more than a styled bridal shoot. I hope it makes room for you to believe in your heart that you are worthy of all the good things in life despite what the world wants you to think.
Your skin color, race, weight or body shape should not hold you back from these God-given gifts.
