Modern Day Marie

If there was ever a woman that was boldly vivacious with a serious issue of being overtly indulgent, extravagantly fashionable and fit for the fab life (and one of the reasons behind the demise of the French Monarchy and the provocation of the French Revolution)  it would have to be hands down Marie Antoinette —  the Last Queen of France.   Continue reading “Modern Day Marie”

Instant Outfit

Sometimes you just want to look put together without a lot of thought.  The key is to have classic pieces at your disposal to remix your wardrobe.  It’s the genius behind pieces like a blazer, a white man’s shirt, a sheath dress or a great lip color — they can be the foundation of an instant outfit because you can just throw it on and look effortlessly chic.   Continue reading “Instant Outfit”

Pink Ladies

Pink — it’s the signature color of Elle Woods, Audrey Hepburn, Barbie, Miss Piggy, Shelby (Julia Roberts’ character from Steel Magnolias) and of girly girls everywhere.  From a soft pale rose or a vibrant hot hue the color pink instantly brings to mind femininity. Continue reading “Pink Ladies”

Charmed

Small details can take a simple idea and transform it into something completely new and different giving life and character to your outfit.  When shopping for clothes I always find myself drawn to these little things (bows, pleats, embellishments) that take plain garments and give it a touch of sweetness, femininity and ladylike charm. Love & Prom

The word “love” is often applied to a wide variety a people,  places or things and although the overuse of such a lovely word may strip away its true essence I can’t help but love how love can be applied to so much — after all it is a many splendored thing.  I mean when it comes to l’amour I’m kinda a lush because I just have so many!  But regardless of what type of love it is it still remains significant.  I love my family, my bestie Nataly, a great pair of pumps (especially on sale), sipping tea in a pretty cup, watching Law & Order SVU marathons on rainy days,  and the city of Paris — for it’s many reasons but quite simply because it’s Paris, duh!

Custom Comfort

Hey Everyone!

It seems like I’ve been living in 4 inch heels lately so it was such a treat to chill out wearing flats and sneakers this weekend.  I’m a fan of classic looks and comfort and there’s something about a sweatshirt and sneaks that bring me back to the effortless style and easy days of growing up in the ’90s. Neon Bright

A well dressed woman will always get noticed for all the right reasons – regardless if she’s wearing a ball gown or a ball cap and sneaks.  It’s the understated sexiness, sophistication, class, femininity  — that je ne se quoi… that makes being a woman and playing dress up so much fun. Bangle For Your Buck

Hey Everyone!  I’m finally feeling like a normal person again and so thankful.  I hate being sick because unlike most people that can work through their sniffles and body aches I am a complete wimp and it takes me at least a week of real rest to get back to Thamarr 2.0

Bauble Head

Waiting for the weekend is hard enough but when it finally gets here and it’s absolutely beautiful out and you happen to be sick in bed — well that just stinks.  I’m still recovering from my cold so I’m sharing this post from my germ riddled couch as I take a break from blowing my nose and coughing up a lung.  (TMI? My bad.)  Anywho I hope that you are all well and if you’re starting to feel that tickle in the back of your throat get some ZICAM with the quickness!

Orange Blossom

One of the most frustrating things for me is to wake up to get dressed for the day and look around my closet and chair-drobe (I’ve accumulated quite a wardrobe on my bedroom chaise) and saying I have nothing to wear.  Obviously this is not true and it’s only an idea that I have nothing to wear.  What is lacking is not any new clothing but creativity.  So instead of heading to the mall to buy something new I shop my closet and I’m always surprised with what I can come up with.  I’m able to satisfy my need for a new look without spending any money.   Continue reading “Orange Blossom”

Notorious

In grade school I’ve always loved the month of February and not for the reasons you might think.  Yes, many consider this the Love Month and will be celebrating theirs on the 14th – but I aim to celebrate my love for my family and friends everyday of the year by being the best daughter, sister and friend.  I figure you can usually count on having successful relationships if you give your best and try to keep an open heart and mind — eager to love and most of all ready to forgive.  And having meaningful relationships is something to celebrate everyday – whether you say I love you, send a “just because” card in the mail or keeping your friends in your personal prayers. Leg Up

I’ve often been told in the past (and presently told) to dress differently or cover up certain parts of my body to accentuate my good parts and shamefully hide the bad ones — in particular my fat chubby legs.  But the thing is I love my legs and yes I love them even though they are chubby, fat and overweight… but my legs are also strong, powerful, thick, resourceful and beautiful.  And thanks to these legs of mine I am able to do my job as a nurse well.  I’m also able to run/walk that mile when I feel up to it and what I love the most about my legs is that they look great in a pair of sky high heels.  For all these things and more I’m grateful for my tree trunk limbs and instead of worrying that my legs look too fat for that skirt or dress I remember the words of one of my all time favorite body positive inspirations that gave me a fat leg up.
