It’s finally here!  My new website!  So much blood, sweat and tears have gone into rebranding my website.  I didn’t think the day would come but it’s here and I can’t wait for you to experience it with me.

For the last 2 years I’ve been wanting to create a completely new and different experience when you come to Musings of a Curvy Lady for many reasons.  For one, I wasn’t motivated to create when I would come to my own site.

Summer is full effect and so are my favorite fashion summertime essentials including all white everything.  

Simple, chic, and fresh an all white ensemble is perfect for summer days and nights.  Not only does wearing all white keep you cooler during those dog days of summer but you can’t help but look cool in the crisp monochrome ‘fit.  Whether you sport a dress or tanks and shorts all white works for all occasions from pool parties and BBQs (just be careful with A1 sauce) to backyard soirees to nautical adventures on the water.

Weekends are for relaxed, lived in denim, slouchy tanks and bold neon statement jewelry and heels … obvy.

It’s a three day weekend for most (not me unfortunately — hospitals are opened 24 hours 7 days a week) but I’m not complaining.  I’m going to appreciate the time that I do have outside of wearing nursing scrubs.  So that means getting up and getting dressed, putting on some lipstick and start feeling oh so blessed, because I am even when I don’t think so.

There is no doubt that I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without my mother paving the way for me in so many ways.  She’s funny, hardworking, fearless, mild and quiet, but so smart and thoughtful.  A natural born leader; she could have easily been a lawyer or a politician but she’s always been a woman of God and only worked in order to provide for her 5 children.  She’s strong and resilient and seriously the kindest sweetest person you could ever meet.

With each passing year instead on focusing on my waistline getting smaller I concentrate on cultivating a bigger and stronger self worth.  Not to be mistaken for cockiness because self confidence is something that is contagious and attracts whereas cockiness and conceit tends to drive people away.

I know I have a lot of favorite go to looks (jeans & a graphic tee, a maxi dress, moto jacket with ankle pants, dress with a blazer).  But my ultimate and most favorite go to look ever has to be a soft knit top mixed with a pretty tulle skirt.

I restyle this look with variation through accessories and shoes but it’s built with the same staple pieces.   I’m wearing my new favorite knit sweater from the Jennifer Lopez + Collection and the tulle skirt is from Lauren Conrad’s Disney Cinderella Collection both from Kohl’s.

Have you tapped in on the power of the maxi dress?  Not to be overdramatic or anything but I think it’s unparalleled to any other spring time wardrobe staple because 1) it automatically gives you a long graceful silhouette and 2) the perks of being super comfortable.  Not to mention it looks great on basically everyone.  I fell in love with this particular floral number from Igigi.  

Living in Florida I’ve learned that typical weekend fashions tend to be laid back, beachy and simple.

So this outfit is just too cute.

I typically don’t wear athletic gear unless I plan on having a pseudo heart attack as I attempt to jog that mile at my local track but because I was able to find such fun and fabulous leisure wear from Kohl’s I can totally see myself wearing this look to work out (minus the statement necklace) or just around town running errands (add the statement necklace).
