Keeping it casually chic may pose a challenge if you’re plus. I feel as a community we tend to be more maximalist with our fashion choices – needing the extra pop and circumstance of an outfit to make ourselves look stylish.

Don’t get me wrong I love that pop and circumstance just because that’s me by nature but there is also this minimalist side of me that wants to look effortlessly chic without having my outfit announce it for me.

Spring time is just around the corner and that means warmer weather and shorter hemlines.

I’ve found the perfect day dress that incorporates crotchet trim details against a gauzy fabric.

I kept on hearing this term over and over again – Canadian Tuxedo to describe a head-to-toe denim outfit but never really understood where the name came from. So I got educated on the matter courtesy of Google.

Originally, a Canadian Tuxedo is an outfit that consists of a denim jacket and denim jeans.

Believe it or not, your beloved dungarees actually have French origins. Sacre bleu!

The word “denim” is actually derived from the French term serge de Nîmes, or “serge from Nîmes.” Serge is a type of sturdy, ridged twill fabric, and the French city of Nîmes was known for its textiles—and was churning out indigo pants long before Levi’s.

I think Solange is probably one the most fashionable people on the planet.

I think it must be in the DNA of a girly girl to love tulle in all it’s forms. I just can’t resist a tutu when I see one regardless of how many I already have. I did’t have one in white and I wanted to style it differently since the tutu in the plus size world has become an overly saturated fashion staple.

Weekends are made to relax and take it easy so I try to incorporate that in my weekend wardrobe. I try to go for laid back and easy going without looking too relaxed. I still want to look put together. There’s a big difference between casual and Netflix casual if you catch my drift.

This is not your mother’s 80’s powersuit. The soft relaxed look of this suit makes it daytime appropriate but the deep luxe color makes it so much edgier — no shoulder pads required.

I decided to keep the look monochromatic with a vampy matte lippie and textured handbag all in the same deep rich hue. Adding more vamp in different textures helps the colors play off of each other without being overbearing or too matchy matchy.
