I wanted to get this post up earlier this week but technical difficulties.

I felt like creating a romantic and feminine look for no reason at all.
Some days I feel I have this quarantine thing on lock and others, well, not so much.
I miss the problems and the freedoms we use to have in a pre Covid world, but do not mistake me for thinking we should just be all lax about the seriousness of our situation and get back to life as previously scheduled.
I don’t think life can. So much has changed. But, you know what?
Beauty isn’t canceled. Inspiration isn’t canceled. Love isn’t canceled.
That’s what motivated me one day to get up, get dressed and shoot this look. My intention is to bring a little more loveliness to my corner of the internet in hopes that it can make someone, even if it’s only one person, to smile.

I will never get use to the the intense heat of summers in Florida.
There’s no way I’m going to be wearing pants in this inferno of a season and since I can’t go pant-less in public I tend to only wear dresses.
When I found this little white number that is not only cute and darling but so light, comfortable and breezy, it seriously was the best of both worlds.
Since getting it, I’ve worn so much and it’s not getting old. I can slip it on and still feel polished and put together to run errands or lounging at home.

I love the structure of the asymmetrical skirt. It’s from the Nordstrom house brand Halogen collaboration with Blair Eadie Bee from Atlantic Pacific.
It sells out immediately so I was stoked to pick up this piece. The Halogen brand is super inclusive and I can always trust and find something darling and cute. It also helps that Nordstrom has super fast shipping an amazing customer service so just in case something doesn’t work out it’s a no hassle return.

Target has been dropping some major style collaborations this summer and I’ve been loving it. Love Shack Fancy, Cushnie and more have made it’s way to Target in an array of size inclusive styles.
So when Lisa Marie Fernandez launched her collection of summertime perfection I knew I had to get one.
Lisa Marie Fernandez is known for her bohemian inspired chic designs and having them available at Target prices is more than amazing.
Now everyone can get their hands on her effortlessly glamorous summertime style.
This white pic ran maxi dress is beyond beautiful and I knew this would be the dress I had to have from the collection.
I love all white dresses for summer but the cut and design of this dress amps up the glamour.
The flared, tiered and billowy sleeves give me all the right kind of drama. The touch of Ric Rac is just the right amount of darling.
A fair warning however, this dress is heavy! It’s a lot of material and if you live anywhere like Florida you might be in trouble. This is definitely an indoor dress.

So I know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me and honestly I didn’t know how to jump right into creating content again.
Current world events on top of what was already happening in my world sent me over the edge.
I have good days and bad days. I’m always thankful for the good days.
I’m sharing in today’s post a caption that I wrote on Instagram. So even though I may be smiling, laughing or have it together, know that I am not.
My name is Thamarr and I feel things intensely. 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦.
So much so that when all these different feelings would flood into me, the only way to sort through and understand them was to write it out in the pages of my journal.
There I was, in my room, with all my intense, mountainous feelings spilling over onto the lined pages of my composition notebook.
Along with my feelings in written form, these pages were often soaked with my tears.
Sometimes I wish I didn’t feel so intensely.
It would save me a lot of energy, if I didn’t love so much. Save me a lot of sleepless nights, if I didn’t care so much. And overall, have a better sense of general well being if I didn’t have to live with the lingering chronic unease I have in my chest when I see racism, injustice, corruption, discrimination, and inequality.
Recent events have sent my intense feelings into overdrive.
I’m flooded with images of lifeless Black bodies and so many layered emotions that trigger more trauma and emotions. It makes sorting through it all so very complicated, to the point I feel as if I’m literally drowning.
𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺?
The feelings becoming visceral, spilling over into my dreams when I sleep and ready to crash and consume me when I wake.
Past traumas, once blurry and unhealed, comes right into focus and made crystal clear. I can’t look away. I can’t feel it away.
The funny thing is, just like that, I will have a moment of peace, of hope and feel really light.
I honestly don’t know why it happens the way it does was but I thanked God for the moment of respite. It happened to me yesterday morning towards the end of my shift at the hospital.
It honestly felt as if God was like, “Girl, just give it all to me. Give me all of your burning hurt, the rage, the doubt and hopelessness you’re feeling so intensely right now. 𝘐 can take it.”
Because yesterday was the first day in a long time where I didn’t have that intense feeling of unease in my chest (and the first time l felt inspired to write.)
I love to mx it up but always keep it real. My heart will forever go pitter patter with something with ruffles, tulle or anything that moves when I do.
What I’m not is a fan of are big trends that seem to be all the rage but wind up living out their lives on the expired fashion shelf.
But when a trend and a classic come together its pretty much magic.
Case in point; the skort.
There is something so quintessentially femme and nostalgic about a skort.
Besides being a practical option if you don’t want to wear a mini skirt, a skort is such a throw back to simpler fashion times, for me anyway.
This particular skort is not your typical grade school, Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper, Giga Pet skort. This skort drinks red wine. It’s grown. It’s sexy and confident.
The paperbag waist detail is a great way to incorporate a modern trend. The classic tan trench coat fabric and the double button detail keeps in chic.
To keep this look a lá Thamarr, I wore a feminine white blouse with a beautiful sweetheart neckline. It’s such a pretty way to show off summertime décolletage without baring too much.
I also paired it with a fun statement sandal with gingham print ribbons that tie up. By adding pieces that felt very me and feminine it helped pull this look together and to me, make it real world wearable.
I went out to dinner with girlfriends after shooting this look and it was perfect. I was comfortable and didn’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction.
So the question I pose to you now: to skort or not to skort?
Is it just me or does your mood improve when you love your outfit?! I know mine does, exponentially! And who doesn’t love a great everyday look that can take you from meetings to meetups with friends in no time.
I’ve been a fan of the pieces from Lauren Conrad’s line at Kohl’s for a long time so when they made the jump a few years ago to extend their sizes to include plus I was so happy!
I don’t have to try and make certain styles work for my body since the clothes now are designed with me in mind.
With the summer heat upon us it can be so overwhelming to think about getting dressed — can’t I just go out in public my skivvies?
But no worries, I honestly have getting dressed in the Florida heat down to a science that will keep you looking and feeling fresh and cool.
What you’re going to need first are some white jeans. Whether cropped, wide or straight leg or white jeans are a summer fashion staple and are a perfect way to balance and anchor any outfit. I love these from LC Lauren Conrad because they stop right at my ankle so I can show off my fun brocade printed mules.
All you need next is the perfect shoe. Wear heels, mules or slides depending on the feel of your look and don’t forget a bold statement earring. I am obsessed with all natural and straw bags and this one is the perfect size to carry all your must haves while out and about.
I could re-wear this kind of outfit all summer long. It really is a new spin on a uniform. There is no need to overthink it because it will look great every single time.
What does your summer go-to style uniform consist of?
I’m a big believer that modest fashion can be stylish and dare I say, sexy.
My goal in writing this post is not to make anyone who disagrees with me feel bad about their choices of dress but instead to start the conversation of challenging the idea of what is sexy or beautiful by simply being true to yourself even if that means baring no midriff or cleavage.
To be honest, over the years I felt the pressure to wear daring styles that showed more skin than I’m comfortable with.
You have to remember I was 23 when I started blogging. I wanted my outfits to make an impression so of course there are some cringe worthy OOTD posts if you scroll back far enough.
Personal style changes and evolves (thank goodness) and although I don’t regret anything that I have shared on this platform I am definitely more confident in my choices of not baring more than what I feel comfortable with.
So even though I am more of a modest style influencer that doesn’t mean I don’t feel sexy in what I’m wearing.
Sexiness to me is a spectrum that includes Rihanna and Audrey Hepburn. I can appreciate both but I personally am more of an Audrey than a Rihanna.
Instead of letting others decide what sexiness looks like or even allow societal standards pressure me to feel like I’m an old fashioned prude — I’ve come to totally embrace my personal views of modest dress and sexiness. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Case in point, this outfit.
I felt incredibly sexy in this look.
Although it might not be anything remarkable or overtly sexy per the standards of others, it was the soft flow of the fabric. The delicate cut of the neckline that showed off my sun-kissed skin that made me feel so amazing in this outfit.
That’s what your fashion choices should do for you; they should make you feel good, confident and sexy. Never posing to be something that you’re not.
So whether you’re more of an Audrey or if you’re a Rihanna; you should be saying the same thing to yourself when you get dressed: I look so darn good in this!

I’m trying to set myself up for success. One way I’m doing that is being open to the idea of love.
I’m working on actually going out more and meeting new people.
People may think because I’m a blogger I must be surrounded by people all the time with plenty of opportunities to meet “the one’.
This may appear to be true at times, like during events and on social. But in all honesty I’m usually rolling solo to events and I have no issue with it.
Which brings me to my problem: I’ve become way to comfortable staying at home with a marathon of murder mysteries on Investigation Discovery. I can’t help that I enjoy my own company!
If you’ve dated in the last 5 years, you know it’s sucks. I just want to skip all of the awkward parts and jump right into the relationship part.
Can’t my Mr. Right just come and knock on my door, ready for monogamy, commitment, supports the idea of me keeping my last name and has the intense desire to wear matching couple outfits?
No?
Okay, I know you have to be willing to do the work, and that work starts with me.
Taking the time to know what I want and what I definitely don’t want.
Taking my singleness as a time of refinement so that when I do meet my person, I am the best possible version of myself I can be. Hopefully he’s doing the same out there too.

Anyway I’m turning over a new leaf and wrote down some personal short-term and longterm goals in my journal to see if I can breakout of my single-not-willing-to-mingle bad habits.
