This look reminds me of a cup of smooth, rich hot chocolate. The real deal hot chocolate – not that watered down powdered packet stuff.
I’m talking about that chopped chocolate bar, whisked with butter, cream and milk, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Now that’s a hot chocolate. 🔥
I used to be afraid of being washed out wearing chocolate brown but including different colors of the same warm color family helped create depth and texture and keep my rich melanin intact.
Now that I have my Fall wardrobe together I just need Florida to drop at least 30º so I can actually wear my fab layers without breaking a sweat.
A cold weather getaway is so necessary. Now just have to figure out where?
Want to jump on trend train that is here to stay?! Get yourself an all pink power suit!
I’m a believer in the dramatics of a strong monochromatic outfit especially in my signature color.
And I’m not the only either! I’ve been seeing pink power suits all over — from the streets of NYFW to some of my favorite celebs like Rihanna, Emily Ratajkowski, Tika Sumpter and Beyoncé gets an honorable mention in all the pink numbers she wore in Sardinia.
If you’re afraid to tackle on the rosey hue from head-to-toe try wearing the blazer alone with a pair of black wide cropped jeans or trousers with a moto jacket. But for those that are ready for a full punchy look I’ve rounded a few pink suits that will be great to keep in rotation in your Fall wardrobe.
Can’t overthink Falls favorite color palette — tans and browns will always represent a facet of the Fall season and I’m not mad at it.
So how to wear everyone’s favorite Fall hue. TEXTURE.
Neutrals don’t have to be boring. Mix textures and fabrics to create a more dynamic spot way of wearing neutrals. I chose to wear a ribbed knit sweater dress, wool hat and a camel leather satchel to wear the trend but still keep the look cohesive.
Texture play is a great way to wear a monochromatic neutral look and still keep it stylish and exciting.
A neutral braided headband, statement coat, suede over-the-knee-boots, tortoise accented belts and sweaters are other ways to bring in texture, fabric and pattern play to a monochromatic look.
I love to mx it up but always keep it real. My heart will forever go pitter patter with something with ruffles, tulle or anything that moves when I do.
What I’m not is a fan of are big trends that seem to be all the rage but wind up living out their lives on the expired fashion shelf.
But when a trend and a classic come together its pretty much magic.
Case in point; the skort.
There is something so quintessentially femme and nostalgic about a skort.
Besides being a practical option if you don’t want to wear a mini skirt, a skort is such a throw back to simpler fashion times, for me anyway.
This particular skort is not your typical grade school, Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper, Giga Pet skort. This skort drinks red wine. It’s grown. It’s sexy and confident.
The paperbag waist detail is a great way to incorporate a modern trend. The classic tan trench coat fabric and the double button detail keeps in chic.
To keep this look a lá Thamarr, I wore a feminine white blouse with a beautiful sweetheart neckline. It’s such a pretty way to show off summertime décolletage without baring too much.
I also paired it with a fun statement sandal with gingham print ribbons that tie up. By adding pieces that felt very me and feminine it helped pull this look together and to me, make it real world wearable.
I went out to dinner with girlfriends after shooting this look and it was perfect. I was comfortable and didn’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction.
So the question I pose to you now: to skort or not to skort?
Timeless black and white gets a little modern update in this warm weather glam look.
Over the years I have expressed my love and adoration for plus size brands that just get it. They create styles and designs that are classic, trendy and modern for the plus size woman. I can’t fan girl enough over my love for Eloquii.
Ever since they stepped on the scene as an independent brand they have been killing the plus size fashion game dropping a new collection for what seems like on a weekly basis.
My head is left spinning from all the gorgeous lush fashion in the best possible way.
So let’s get into this look, shall we?
For one, it has to be one of my favorites so far this year. It’s feminine, classic and subtly sexy.
Two, I’m wearing black and white which I never do but I was immediately attracted to this darling tie shoulder body suit and the elevated Black and white is
Natural inspired handbags have been so on trend for the last few seasons and honestly I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. I love how it gives summer looks a more earthy feel and it adds a demure elegance and texture.
This weeks Friday Favorites I’ve rounded up my favorite straw/wicker handbags for any budget.
My favorite port while traveling the Caribbean with Princess Cruises has to be Roatan, Honduras.
Once we disembarked Caribbean Princess we boarded a smaller boat to the tiny island that is called Big French Key. It was absolutely charming and so beautiful.
It was private so not a lot of tourists and the water just perfect — crystal blue and warm.
We were welcomed to the island with a cold refreshing drink and served the most delicious lunch under a tiki hut where reggae played in the background. It was a vibe.
After exploring the island and taking a few pictures we just had to get in that beautiful water. The rest of the afternoon involved wading in the water and doing absolutely nothing. It was glorious.
The day on Big French Key was short but packed full of beauty, charm and delicious frozen margaritas. I definitely feel that I need to visit Roatan to immerse myself in the culture and rhythm of the island for more than a day.
Traveling back to Caribbean Princess I made new friends aboard our boat leaving the island. We laughed and talked about our travels over more rum punch. We also talked about our favorite places to eat while on board this shop. Believe me, this is important information to swap!
Tired from the sun we embarked the ship to get ready for dinner and a good nights sleep. Vacationing is tiring but you come back new.
Okay ladies! I’ve heard you! You’ve asked to see more casual looks on the blog so I’m just here to please. I present to you, le casual glam via River Island Plus! 😂
I will always and forever be a maxamistbecause more is more.
However, there is something really quite beautiful for in a look that is minimal or low-key.
This look from River Island features two staples that all of need in our wardrobes in the winter. Great fitting denim and knit sweater.
Since discovering River Island denim*I honestly was sleeping on them in that department. I have loved wearing them in my day to day life.
You don’t see many of those looks on the blog because I thought they were too ordinary and not very visually interesting.
Boy, was I wrong.
A lot of you have sent me messages saying that you love my style but would love to see more of me in what I wear out and about everyday.
Shooting this look reminded me of when I first started blogging and captured my looks in real time: that is asking my brother to snap a photo of my outfit on my way out the door. Nothing planned or prepared. Not an extravagant look to wear for a few hours. Just a cute outfit for the curvy girl next door.
In fact this was what I was actually wearing while hanging out at my friends place before dinner.

The ultimate special occasion dress is here! You’re guaranteed to knock’em dead in this heat-to-toe sparkle number from the Jason Wu x Eloquii Collection.
This was the second look I was able to try from the collection and it’s easily my favorite because 1.) all of the sequins and 2.) the old Hollywood glamour vibes that ooze from this silhouette.
My persona immediately changed when I put this dress on. I felt like I should have been walking around with a dirty martini in one hand and a string of pearls in the other.
Drumroll please! The Jason Wu x Eloquii Collection is here!
So let me tell you a little something about my love affair with Jason Wu. It all started back in 2009 when he exploded onto the world scene when he designed the Inaugural Gown for First Lady Michelle Obama.
So do you remember it? The flowy white chiffon number with the thousands of organza flowers that were hand-sewn by himself and 4 members of his staff. Just incredible right?!
He had know idea that Michelle would pick his design to wear on that special night but to his shock and amaze he was stunned to see the new First Lady of the United States of America sashaying in front of the entire world in his dress!
In the months and years to come Jason would become a fashion darling and design for some of my favorite Hollywood leading ladies like Kerry Washington, Blake Lively and (sister-in-my-head) the Duchess of Sussex aka Megan Markle — who wore a few of his designs during her recent Royal Tour.
Okay, so fast forward to how I find myself being one of the first people to wear dresses from the new Jason Wu x Eloquii Collection.
I was approached by Eloquii about 2 weeks ago where they tell me, get this, that I was hand selected by Jason Wu himself to be one of two women to wear and model his designs before anyone else!
I was shooketh to the core.
I was so blown away that somewhere out there, Jason Wu looked at me and said, “Yes, her.”
Let’s get to the deets about this dress. It’s a twirl-around-and-dance-like-no-one-is-watching-approved dress. I’m wearing a size 22 for reference.
Made up of layers and layers of point d’espirit — that’s French talk for pretty polka dotted printed tulle. Also fully line with an invisible zipper and hook and eye closure and a dangerously plunging neckline that may or may not cause a riot if you’re busty like me.
You’ve been warned.
Alexa, play “I Want To Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston, because “she ready.”
As much as I love the change of season, colorful leaves and any excuse to order a hot chocolate, I hate the need of having to buy an entire new wardrobe.
You shouldn’t feel the need to either. Don’t be ashamed of wearing what you have.
Clothes are meant to be worn and if you select the right pieces they can be worn season after season.
I wanted to show you how I give my clothes some longevity by incorporating my favorite Fall season items.
Keep those light summer skirts and off the shoulder dresses; they can give lots of looks well into Fall.
So it’s officially the first day of Fall! Well, I can’t quite get over the fact that I live in a state where it’s basically summer all year long. The weather won’t let me forget either. Continue reading “Retro Gingham Print Dress”
NYFW is over but the trends we saw on the runways live on in us — was that too dramatic. Oh well, I live for fashion drama! And there was plenty of it this season.Continue reading “Post NYFW Trends with eBay”
