Booty Never Left

So, there’s this VOGUE article out causing a little bit of a stir on Twitter.  It’s entitled “We’re Officially in the Era of the Big Booty” where the article goes on about how revolutionary J.Lo and Iggy Azalea have been to the acceptance and glorification of the big booty woman.  No doubt butt baring and it’s adoration has had a popular resurgence in current pop culture thanks to Beyoncé, Nikki Minaj and the Kardashian’s  but I’m over here like I never left.

Regardless of what trends come and go in pop culture I will always have this body — big booty and all.  So VOGUE, sorry, but you’re kinda late to the big booty party because the big booty has always been around and it’s not going anywhere.   Writing an article now, and just a reminder we are in the year 2014– and to really think that accepting and appreciating a rotund derrière is a revolutionary or novel idea is absurd.  There’s nothing new about it to me especially growing up in the African American community where it was an image that was glorified in music, linguistics and fashion.  But it doesn’t really matter how you’re shaped — every body is a good body.  Big booties to the small ones and everything in between are deserving of acceptance and appreciation — you don’t need a VOGUE article to let you know it’s okay to love what you’ve got.  So VOGUE — how about writing an article entitiled “We’re Officially in the Era of Self Love”… now that is something new to talk about.

The dress I’m wearing was sent to me from the UK based company FD AVENUE who have recently launched their Curvy line.  I really like their celeb inspired dresses which are mostly body con styles like the one I’m wearing.  The dress is 95% polyester and also has 5% elastane which is nice and helps with giving you a better fit.  The straps are like spaghetti straps from a camisole and are adjustable.  I’m wearing a UK size 20/22 but I would have gone up one more size just for breathing room.  I love the color and the simple silhouette of the dress — it doesn’t look like anything special on the hanger but when you put it on it’s a completely different story.  Make sure to follow FD Avenue on Instagram for the latest styles and discount codes!

  1. Definitely a good point. Because the “others” are doing whatever surgically possibly to have the perfect proportions (including the big, round booty), now it’s ok instead of being a big joke.

On another note, I am sooooooo happy that you have switched up your look! You were always a gorgeous girl but I felt your hair weighed your look down. Now you look even more radiant and stunning!!!! Keep letting the world see your gorgeous face, body and style!!!!

  2. You’re right, it’s never left. I really can’t stand that it takes someone of another race to do something or glorify it so that it’s “okay” to like by the “masses”. We’ve been doing all these things before folks came and “discovered” it, love its and the affirmed that it’s “in or the hottest thing. Great article, and you look amazing in that color and the dress.
