a style for cause

I’m not going to lie — being a fashion blogger has its perks.  The clothes, jewels and weaves are nice and all but don’t get me wrong that’s not the reason why I started blogging.  I have a message and a passion for writing, styling and spreading inspiration, body acceptance and love.

I love it  when I get the opportunity to work with a company with similar core values and a mission to be and see the change in their communities and our world.  I’m very excited to introduce to you ReThreaded — “a social entrepreneurship that is breaking the cycle of the sex trade by offering viable and creative work to those affected by prostitution, drug addiction and human trafficking.”

I love what they are doing for local women in Jacksonville and worldwide.  ReThreaded is focused on offering the opportunity for survivors to “grow into the fullness of who they are.”

We’ve all made mistakes with our fair share of wrong decisions and how unfair it would be to be soley known or judged based on those bad choices, never having the chance to grow and learn or even realize our own untapped potential?

ReThreaded helps these individuals who could easily become a forgotten unnumbered group of women who are coming out of an existence stigmatized and very dangerous to a life with a safe place to grow and earn a living wage as an artisan seamstress up-cycling donated t-shirts into necklaces, scarves, and headbands for sale.  I’m proud to be wearing the Harmony Necklace.

ReThreaded has helped as of date 13 women in the Jacksonville area to get jobs as artisan seamstresses and their vision extends far beyond our city limits.  They also help distribute the products of women globally that have escaped the life of sex trafficking and drug addiction.

I’m so glad that blogging has provided me the opportunity to work an organization with such an inspiring mission.  If you would like to learn more or get involved click here.

I’ve paired my Harmony Necklace with a gauzy feminine dress from London Times Curve.  Check out the new arrivals from their Spring Collection!  London Times Curve earlier this year launched their new plus size line which I’ve featured here and here on Musings of a Curvy Lady.

Their latest collection has a little bit of everything from fun bright prints, to simple classics and lots of spring time floral.  Stay tuned for the next few posts OK n MCL, I’ll be styling a few more looks from London Times Curve and hosting a giveaway on Instagram so make sure you’re following me!

  1. Wow, Thamarr, you are such a beautiful person not only outside but inside as well. That’s where it truly matters, to me anyway. As a fellow nurse to another, I can see why you do what you do. You exude kindness, love and humility. I admire your efforts on encouraging body acceptance and you inspire me to love myself more with each post you write. So from one blogger/nurse to another, I encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing (if for no one else but me…lol). I stalk *cough*…follow your blog religiously, not only for your fashion sense but your exceptional voice through your words. I look forward to new inspiration each time. Sorry I wrote a book, but I just LOVE you…lol.
