Can’t shake the Spring floral trend for Fall? Me neither, and honestly why would you want too?! Fall florals are a thing people and it’s a great way to incorporate color to a darker color palette. I love the pink against the black in this Karen Kane number from Bloomingdale’s. Continue reading “Fall Florals with Bloomingdale’s”
Favorite Highlighters for Women of Color
After blush, highlighter has to be one of my favorite parts of makeup application.
Why do you ask?
Because the inner glow within you is brought to the surface
Was that too much?
You create a natural or unnatural (depending on how you get your glow on) radiance that elevates your entire makeup look.
Here are my top 8 that are chocolate girl friendly.
Milani Baked Bronzer in Soleil
This was one of the first highlighters I ever bought. The price is perfect for a beginner and the payoff is big. It’s a gorgeous gold tone that can be worn everyday and can easily build up to a brighter glow.
MAC Mineralizing Skin Finish in Cheeky Bronze
This is my baby baby right here, okay! I love this rose gold tone highlight. I seriously get a compliment on my highlight every. single. time. I wear this. I’ve had it for about 2 years and it’s still going strong. A little goes a long way but YOLO, go big or go home, amiright!
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops
These drops seriously have elevated my makeup game. Add a few to your foundation for a subtle glow and amp it up by applying a few more drops before applying powder highlighter.
NARS Illuminator in Laguna (OMG it’s discontinued but I found one here.)
This is an oldie but goodie — so old in fact that they stopped making this. I had no idea because I little goes along way with this baby and I’ve had the same one for a couple of years. I did find a seller on Amazon so there is still hope.
Benefit Gold Rush
My bestie works at Benefit and she introduced me to this beautiful blush. I use it as a highlighter and with a damp brush this gives you an intense gold rush glow!
Artist Couture La Bronze
Thanks to Auntie Jackie Aina we can all glow to the high heavens with her highlight creation in collaboration with Artist Couture. This highly pigmented loose rose gold powder packs a powerful punch. I recently bought it again just because I never want to be without it.
Persona Del Mar
I stumbled upon this highlighter by chance because it was a gift. The best gift ever right?! It’s a beautiful bronze gold and looks so great with a nude lip.

Cozy Knit Hoodie and High-waisted Leggings with River Island
Real talk: this is what I’m probably wearing 99% of the time. I’m either glammed up or dressed down. There is no in between.
Thanks to my latest finds from River Island, leggings and a comfy hoodie get a little upgrade with this adult chic version of my favorite homebody outfit.
Comfort is key and my cozy knitted hoodie is that an more. It’s such a nice quality material. It washes well and doesn’t lose it’s shape or size.
I love an oversized hoodies especially when I’m traveling. Airports get super cold and winter coats are too bulky to lug around so wearing a cozy knit is the best of both worlds. I get the practicality and warmth but don’t skimp on the fashion darling.
Highwaisted anything is my friend and finding high quality leggings can be a chore but I really like these ones from River Island as well. They’re thick so you don’t see anything you’re not supposed to see and they are so comfortable.

Summer to Autumn Transitional Outfits
Okay so we’re almost a full month into FALL!
As much as I love the change of season, colorful leaves and any excuse to order a hot chocolate, I hate the need of having to buy an entire new wardrobe.
You shouldn’t feel the need to either. Don’t be ashamed of wearing what you have.
Clothes are meant to be worn and if you select the right pieces they can be worn season after season.
I wanted to show you how I give my clothes some longevity by incorporating my favorite Fall season items.
Keep those light summer skirts and off the shoulder dresses; they can give lots of looks well into Fall.

River Island Dark Floral Mini
Okay! I absolutely love this dress from River Island.
I immediately was attracted to the dark floral print and the sweet layered ruffles. It’s such a darling style and will be perfect for Fall.
I totally get Downton Abbey vibes with the cut and style of the dress, don’t you? I kept the old world inspired feels going by adding diamond dot tights and vintage inspired block heels.
Speaking of Downton Abbey, have you heard that they are bringing the story to the big screen?! I’m so excited about this. Long live Lady Violet!
The look still remains very modern and even edgy with the addition of a vampy lippie and a classic leather moto. This one is faux leather but it looks and feels so supple and soft just like the real deal.
